How did Birdsight.com – a niche market site- get from the no-mans land of no traffic and invisibility with an Alexa ranking more than 11,000,000 to where it is today?

Today Birdwatching Binoculars – Bird Binoculars – Birding Binoculars:

• has an Alexa traffic rank of 439,000
• ranks on page 1 of Google for all of its chosen keywords and phrases.
• page rank of 3
• more than 1200 unique visitors monthly
• about 17,000 visits per month.
• visitors spend an average of 9 minutes here.

This is a tremendous improvement in just a few months time.

Discovering one day that my site hit Number 1 on Page 1 at Google out of more than two million other site listings was quite a wonderful surprise and accomplishment. Yes, the rankings always change. But you can find this site on page 1 for all of its chosen keywords today also.

These are the marketing steps and traffic generating steps I took to make this change happen.

• First the focus was to convert my static website into a blog and optimize it for search engines.
• Article marketing using primarily EzineArticles. This time I wrote with a focus on my keywords rather than rambling on a topic of simply personal interest.
• Social Bookmarking and blog commenting and forum commenting played a preliminary role.
• Using the resources of Linkvana my birding binoculars site came up out of the swamp of invisible sites.
• Every day held a new surprise in the rankings and backlinks. Each of these backlinking sources had its role and functioned well.

It is a simple and direct strategy and it works. Now I have the liberty to attend to ways to bring income in through this blog besides from Adsense. So watch it as I try different methods.

These same methods and almost the same sequence has been used for each of my sites with success.
